If you are a bit computer savvy and a daring do-it-yourselfer and want to try this at home, then here is what I recommend:
Forget about the titans of yesteryear, the names like Symantec, Norton Anti-Virus, McAffe. They are bloated memory hogs. Easy rule, if you have to pay for it, don’t bother with it. Some anti-virus companies have long been suspected as possible purveyors of trojan horses anyhow, but that may be just a conspiracy theory =-). Anyhow, the vest of the lot is the following, so remove any other anti-virus software that might be bloating down your machine and install avast!.
These two sites are hands down the best things you can do to an infected computer:
Download the Free Version Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware and initial scan.
Go to HijackThis Logfileauswertung. Yes, it’s a scary url and name and on top of that it’s in German, but don’t be scared, they are trusted. Go to the English version and complete the steps as described.
Note: If you are unable to access the internet with your bugged out browser you may need to reboot and start in Safe Mode with Networking.

Computer Run Fast
Is your computer running slow, follow these steps first to try and rid your computer of what is ailing it and make it run faster again.

- Start > All Programs > Control Panel > Programs – Uninstall a program: Select and remove all programs that are no longer needed. If you are not sure if it is a system file, virus, adware, bloatware, spyware, or needed file, simply Google it.
- Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup: Select all of the options and remove them.
- Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter: And run the tool despite if the test tells you that it is recommended at this time or not.
- Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore: Set a restore point for today, so that you can come back to this clean point something in the future, if needed.
The above steps will need to be repeated monthly, quarterly, or whenever you feel that it is needed and the computer is running slowly.
